« “The history of men’s opposition to women’s emancipation is more interesting perhaps than the story of that emancipation itself.” V.W This quotation of Virginia whoolf voices women’s struggle over the times, indeed the feminist author is trying to make us realize , the word of the author sheds light upon how women have been treated since the beginning of the humanity.

Nowadays, the woman issue has become an important matter in today’s society.

Indeed, the women are always being critized, judged because of their gender.

Unfortunately, this main proplem remains unsolved.

In the workplace, in each part of the society, they are not considered as equal as men.

Step by step movement like « me too » are raising awareness about the woman issue even though their fight is far from over. Through this editorial, I would like to introduce you the life of a black american woman who changed the society.

She was a mathematician who helped to launch a man into moon’s orbit.

She fought, her whole life, to prove women’s value in a patriarchal world.

We must bear in mind that in America, during the 1960’s, there was racial segregation.

Black and white were split up in the bus, the school, the restaurant and it’s when the story of katherine johnson takes place. Is Katherine Jonsson, a black american woman, the proof that everybody can rise up ? For a start, some people would disagree with this statement.

Indeed, they may disagree because not « everybody » can achieve what she has done because of many factors : being a refugee, if you don’t have ID you can’t work, being smart in a country where nothing is provided for education, and so many other things… Besides, she was supported by her family, her parents dedicated their life for her so that she would complete college, it is not the case for every parents. Furthermore, the school is also a problem, if you come.... »
