The Wonder Of The Seas Intro : Humans have always sought to reach a little further into the sky. In the field of construction, for example, new records are constantly being broken. In the field of navigation, too, there is a thirst for bigger and bigger ships. This is why I decided to talk to you today about cruise ships and more precisely about the biggest cruise ship you see on the picture called "the wonder of the seas". How did cruise ships come about ? Why are they getting bigger and bigger ? What is the biggest cruise ship and what are its particularities ? Until the beginning of the 20th century, liners, designed to satisfy customers, were used to connect Europe to the New World. The concept of the "pleasure cruise" appeared in the 1970s, when the ship became a place of pleasure and comfort. Businesses compete to entertain their customers and make the most money. “The larger the ship, the greater the economies, because there will always be only one captain and one engine room. This reduces the cost per passenger, ”explains Patrick Pourbaix, Managing Director of MSC Cruises France.
